This How-To is explaining how to install an operating system inside of another operating system. For example in this how-to were going setup a virtual machine running CentOS inside a windows XP operating system using QEMU & QEMU manager.

Function: QEMU manager provides quick control of the brilliant QEMU Emulator for win32

 

1. First lets download and install the windows version of Qemu.

2. Next step is to unzip qemu-0.9.0-windows.zip and install it.

3. Next download Qemu Manager.

4. Now extract Qemu Manager into the Qemu directory.

5. Once that is done open the QEMU Manager & follow through the setup steps. first tell Qemu Manager where QEMU is installed.

8. Next choose the driver support you want to use.

7. Now select the path you want your images and media to be stored in.

8. After all that is setup just save the profile.

9. Now open Qemu Manager and choose 'Create New Virtual Machine'.

10. Now give a name to virtual machine.

11. Now choose what operating system your going to install and what amount of RAM you want to assign to the machine.

12. Now choose the option, 'Create New Virtual Drive'

13. Place your image file were ever you want it.

14. Now choose the size of the hard drive you want.

15. Don't select the 'enabled sound' option.

16. make sure the 'view advanced configurations' option is ticked & choose 'save virtual machine'.

17. Now select either your CD-Rom drive or navigate your way to the CD iso. Also choose the win98boot.img file and tick the 'boot from floppy disk' option.

18. Next make sure that yu have disabled the networking tab.

19. Now that setting up the virtual machine is all done just launch the virtual machine by clicking 'launched selected vitual machine' button.

20. Now just follow the CentOS setup through like you normally would.
